Story of Red Munia

Red Avdavat or Red Munia is a beautiful small sparrow sized bird. It is found in opne grass lands on tropical Asia. At the of breeding plumage the male bird looks beautiful with a red colour in whole body. Also the have black colours with white spots. The female bird looks with a pale colour in the feather with spots. Both male and female birds have a red bill & red colour in their eyes. The breeding season of Munia is September to November. They eat grains from fields and insects also. The species name of amandava and the common name of avadavat are derived from the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India, from where these birds were exported into the pet trade in former times. Conservation status is least concern.
